The two movements are:
- Nod head fully (full flexion)
- Extend head fully – do not allow the patient to lean back (full
extension)
If the full range of movement between full flexion and full extension
is less than 90 degrees intubation may be difficult.
Will you be able to:
- Flex the lower cervical vertebrae?
- Extend the head at the atlanto-occipital junction?
- Note the degree of movement in relation to what will be required
during intubation
