Most intubations are easy. However, awkward and difficult laryngoscopy is associated with increased morbidity and mortality.
The view at laryngoscopy must always be documented. The scale most widely used (but frequently misquoted) was described by Cormack and Lehane and applies to the 'best view achieved' (Table 1).
