  • Venepuncture
    • Ametop gel- not for neonates, apply 1 hr prior to surgery, max application time 1 hr. Effective for 4 hours after removal
    • EMLA – not to be used in infants, apply one and a half hours prior to surgery
  • Lumbar puncture
  • Urinary catheterization
  • Local anaesthetic eye drops
  • Nasogastric tube placement
