All anaesthetists should remember:

• The importance of keeping a detailed and accurate anaesthetic record for each patient
• That all anaesthetists should keep a logbook of all patients anaesthetized and procedures performed

All anaesthetic trainees must familiarize themselves with local policies and guidelines, and ensure they know who and how to ask for help if they need it. The person to ask for help varies from hospital to hospital, and may include a consultant who is the designated 'theatre coordinator' or 'bleep holder' or 'starred consultant' for the day.
