Every anaesthetist should know where the difficult airway trolley in their theatre complex is kept.

You should spend some time looking through the difficult airway trolley to see what is where. Ask consultants at your hospital to show you how to use all the equipment on the trolley, and ideally use it on elective patients in a controlled environment.

Most hospitals have equipment in each anaesthetic room or theatre for emergency percutaneous airway access via the neck, i.e. needle cricothyroidotomy or surgical airway.
