If there are problems ventilating:

• Optimize the head and neck position
• Optimize the seal using up to two assistants
• Increase the oxygen flow and concentration to 100%
• Anticipate needing an airway adjunct in patients with no teeth

If using adjuncts:

• Warm a nasopharyngeal airway before insertion. Softening the device reduces trauma
