Oximetry and Spirometry

Oximetry

Oximetry will show signs of hypoxia. This is inevitable if obstruction persists, but may occur late.

Once present, hypoxia progresses rapidly if obstruction is not relieved.

Spirometry

During spontaneous ventilation small oval flow-volume loops are seen.

During attempted positive pressure ventilation a small inspiratory and scalloped expiratory limb are seen.
