Answer

Question: How would you test if the block is adequate before starting surgery?

Answer: Different sensations can be used, such as temperature with ice or ethyl chloride, pin prick using a blunt needle, or light touch with cotton wool or a finger.

The block should be checked from the sole of the foot; the upper border of the block on the trunk should be defined by testing 5cm from the midline. Both sides should be checked as there can be differences between the two sides.
