Until full recovery of patient, clinical observation should be supplemented by:

• Pulse oximetry
• Non invasive blood pressure monitoring

Ideally the following equipment should also be available

• ECG monitor
• Nerve stimulator
• Thermometer
• Capnograph
• Compatible equipment between ward recovery and theatre
• Oxygen and suction

Drugs, fluids, equipment and algorithms for resuscitation should be immediately available.
