Insert tubes and perform X-rays after the primary survey:

• Urinary catheter - if there is a pelvic fracture and ask for a surgical assessment before insertion. Blood at the meatus or a high riding prostate on rectal examination may indicate a urethral injury.
• Nasogastric tube – use orogastric tube if signs of base of skull fracture
• Chest X-ray
• Pelvic X-ray
