First ensure that hands are visibly clean and dry, then follow steps 1-17.

This technique is similar to that for routine hand cleaning, except that it:

• Involves cleaning up to the elbows
• Takes longer (done for at least 60 seconds)
• May be done more than once for a surgical scrub (see alcohol product manufacturer's instructions)
