The amount of a given gas dissolved in a given type and volume of liquid is directly proportional to the partial pressure of that gas in equilibrium with that liquid.
Therefore, if the partial pressure of an anaesthetic agent in the alveoli is doubled, once equilibrated the partial pressure and quantity dissolved in the blood would also double.
